Mogwai have announced the departure of guitarist John Cummings.

In a statement to their website, the band revealed Cummings has parted ways with the Glaswegian rockers to "pursue his own musical projects.” The remaining members -- Stuart Braithwaite, Dominic Aitchison, Martin Bulloch and Barry Burns -- will continue on as a four-piece. They also have plans to bring on Scott Paterson and Luke Sutherland as part of their touring band. Read their complete message below:

We are sad to announce that John Cummings has decided to leave Mogwai to pursue his own musical projects.

We will continue as a four piece of Dominic Aitchison, Stuart Braithwaite, Martin Bulloch and Barry Burns and shall be joined on our upcoming live shows by Scott Paterson and Luke Sutherland.

We wish John all the best with the future.

Cummings has been with Mogwai since the band’s inception in 1995. This year, the band celebrated their 20th anniversary with the career-spanning Central Belters box set and special-edition, limited-run merchandise. Together, they released their most recent and eighth full-length, Rave Tapes, last year.
