Dan Auerbach’s the Arcs Debut Video for ‘Put a Flower in Your Pocket’
In a month’s time, the Black Keys frontman Dan Auerbach will release Yours, Dreamily, his debut effort with his newly minted side project, the Arcs. Today (Aug. 13), the band has debuted a music video for album track, “Put a Flower in Your Pocket.” Check it out above.
The animated clip shares the same artwork that was featured on the group’s debut single, “Stand in My Corner,” when it was a released as a 7” earlier this year. Director and artist El Oms had this to say about the video in a statement to Noisey:
My style is a combination of Chicano Art mixed with universal monsters, or more specifically the wolf man. The characters in the video are Rosie, the boxer, and the gangster. Rosie and the boxer are in their 20s and share equal interests in each other ever since they laid eyes on each other it was love at first sight. However, there is one big obstacle between them: Rosie's boyfriend the gangster and his gangster lifestyle. After seeing her boyfriend cutting off the hand of the boxer for losing the biggest fight in his career, Rosie shot her boyfriend in retaliation and fled with the boxer. Unknowingly the gangster lived and came back to kill the boxer. Rosie being devastated took her own life to be with her love in the ghost world. GHOST LOVERS.
Yours, Dreamily is due out Sept. 4 via Nonesuch; you can pre-order it now at iTunes or the band’s website. The Arcs have already shared a handful of songs from the upcoming album, including “Outta My Mind” and “Tomato Can.”
