It’s been three years since Animal Collective dropped their last album, Centipede Hz, but back in May, three of four of the band’s members got together for their first rehearsal of the year. The result was a 23-minute, improvised jam dubbed “Michael, Remember,” which they have now shared along with an accompanying video. Check it out above.

The video features footage from the Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary in the Gulf of Mexico. It was filmed by marine biologist Colin Foord as part of a collaboration with Animal Collective’s Josh “Deakin” Dibb and Brian “Geologist” Weitz back in July. The band issued this statement regarding the video on their Instagram:

Happy Halloween!!! Check out this @coralmorphologic video of a flourescent night dive that Colin, Deakin, and Geologist did together last summer in the Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary. It also features improvised music from the first AC practice day of 2015. Turn off the lights and watch on as big a screen as possible.

Animal Collective tracked “Michael, Remember” at Drop of Sun Studios in Asheville, N.C. All but Dibb were involved in the recording process.

The band reported they had finished recording their Centipede Hz follow-up in July. Since the 2013 disc, Noah Lennox has released his latest Panda Bear album, Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper, plus a string of spinoff EPs and remixes. David Portner, aka Avey Tare, issued Enter the Slasher House last year.
