2017 New Music Releases

In 2016, we were treated to a ton of great music from all over the musical spectrum. And if the list of 2017 new music releases lives up to its promise, we’ll be in for plenty more in the new year.

We’ll still be hungover from the night before when we get the first music of 2017, Reflection by Brian Eno. Later that month, we’l be treated to new efforts by Dropkick Murphys, the Flaming Lips, hip-hop supergroup Run the Jewels, the xx and Bash & Pop, the revival of an early-‘90s band fronted by former Replacements bassist Tommy Stinson.

From there, we can expect veterans like Ryan Adams, Less Than Jake and the Feelies to deliver, and we’ll also see the debut of a new supergroup, Crystal Fairy, featuring members of Melvins, At the Drive-In and Le Butcherettes. Beyond that, we have the first record in nearly 20 years from the Jesus and Mary Chain and the solo debuts by Liam Gallagher and Zack de la Rocha.

There are also many projects where an act -- such as Depeche Mode and U2 -- has promised or hoped to release something in 2017, but has offered nothing definite. So read the list below and click on the appropriate links to learn more about what we can expect in the way of new music.
